INTRODUCTION
The food & beverage industry is a key player in the Nigerian Economy as the sector is a major employer of labour. Moreover food and beverage have direct health implications on the consumers.
More importantly is the recent pressure on the sector to increase it’s contribution to foreign exchange earnings of the country. Therefore, it is imperative to constantly nurture this sector of the Nigerian economy through constant monitoring and improvement of product quality and safety.

Quality is an indispensable tool in the food & beverage industry. It cuts across the entire food handling process ranging from the raw materials, production, storage and distribution. For a product to gain consumer acceptance amidst other rivals and still maintain it’s place in the market, such product must continually undergo quality improvement measures.

The appreciation and understanding of the importance of quality are the propelling forces behind this carefully packaged training workshop by the Nigerian Institute of Food Science & Technology (NIFST). The Institute is the only professional umbrella for all practicing food professionals in the food & beverage industry, regulatory agencies, academic and research institutions in Nigeria actively involved in skillful and consistent manpower development.

Quality Assurance puts criteria in place to monitor and verify that a company is providing the best quality possible and at the same time show compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. While, HACCP implementation leads to greater control and closer security of the food production process, which will result to improvements in product quality.

There is no doubt that every food & beverage industry, regulatory agencies; academic and research institutions will benefit tremendously from this training workshop on Total Quality Management in the food & beverage industry.

OBJECTIVE
Recent developments in the food & beverage industry have shown that the role of HACCP/Quality Assurance cannot be overruled in Total Quality Management. Therefore, the workshop will focus on Total Quality Management with emphasis on HACCP/Quality Assurance.

TRAINING FEE:  
Cost of Training is Forty Thousand naira (N40,000) per participant from NIFST Corporate Member Companies and Fifty Thousand naira (N50,000) per participant for Non-Corporate Member Companies, to be paid before or during registration. This fee covers cost of course materials, group photograph and certificate excluding accommodation cost.
